The history of television in Italy through the Sinudyne brand, from Bologna 1946 to today's 4K Smart TVs with webOS.

The history of TV in Italy is also the history of brands like Sinudyne, born in 1946 in Bologna, which brought radios and televisions into Italian homes from the 1950s up to today's 4K Smart TVs.

The origins: radios, valves and first TVs

In 1946 the SEI – Società Elettronica Italiana was founded in Bologna, starting to produce valve radios under the Sinudyne brand.

In 1954 came the first black and white TVs, and within a few years the brand focused almost exclusively on the TV sector.

1960s–1990s: colour, remote control and design

With colour and the remote control, TV became the centre of the Italian living room.

Sinudyne grew with a widespread network of resellers and service centres, becoming a household name for many Italians.

In the 1980s it produced one of the first TVs with digital technology in Italy, confirming a strong push for innovation.

The flat-panel and HD era

With the arrival of LCDs and the first flat screens, TVs became furniture as well as technology.

The Sinudyne brand went through these transformations, expanding the range to small appliances and air conditioners before the closure of the historic Ozzano plant in 2006.

Today: 4K Smart TVs, webOS and a new European chapter

Today Sinudyne lives a new chapter as a brand of Smart TVs and audio products, with a range from 24" to 65" 4K with webOS by LG and Android Smart, repositioning itself as a European brand focused on value for money and ease of use.
